Well, this post has been a long time coming. I have someone very special to introduce to all of my Miss Jee’s blog readers! This is the magnificent Brittany! Now, let me tell you a little story of how Brittany’s path crossed my own. So, rewind to a few months ago, to the middle of summer. I was putting off trying to find a new assistant for an upcoming fall wedding until I KNEW that I could no longer wait. I posted a craigslist ad early on a Sunday morning and I was overwhelmed with the responses. I’m talking 70+ emails within 6 days. For anyone who knows me and how much time I ALREADY spend emailing, you can be sure that I was completely overwhelmed by all of the emails flooding in. I was thankful that at least I had some choices but it was very challenging to find someone who fit all of my “must meet these requirements” AND had a similar photography style. So many emails were flooding in that I stopped looking at them and promised to make a day of sorting through all of them. Well, on the 7th day, I received two follow up email from Brittany and another potential photographer. Out of 70 plus emails, only two people thought to email me back when I never responded. To be completely honest, I would have most likely overlooked Brittany’s original email if she had not reached out again.
Anywhos, her professional website and her second email gave me the hopes that she could be a great assistant/team member of Miss Jee’s. We set up a coffee date and I offered her the position on the spot. There was even brief discussion of her photographing my husband and I’s 3 year anniversary session in September which resulted in me having beautiful images like this:

Here’s the thing though…. when I posted that craigslist ad months ago, I wasn’t looking for a friend, partner in the photography world or someone to talk shop with. I am SO thankful though that Brittany has turned into a wonderful photography partner. I can’t tell you how much she has re-inspired me to keep learning, stay passionate about what I’m doing and not to mention she’s a genius when it comes to photoshop and coding websites. She just assisted on a MJP wedding this past weekend and I can forever see a lifelong friendship and photography bond with this girl! Her enthusiastic personality and her optimistic outlook on life makes this world a better place and I am excited to see what is in store for her!
Here is the session that I traded in return for her traveling to the beach with Patrick and I. A sunrise session in the beautiful Durham, NC.
