So what do I exactly do while I’m holding your images hostage for the few weeks after your session? Well…. this!
This doesn’t happen to myself anymore but I hear horror stories of clients demanding all the unedited images from the session. Why? Why would you want the first picture over the second? It’s an unfinished work of art. During the editing process of package you purchase from me, I’m going through each individual image, fine tuning and finishing it so that it’s a piece of art that can proudly hang on your wall at the end of the day.
Before I really dove into the in depth world of digital photography, I had NO idea that the second image was the result of editing. Granted, I could have made some minute adjustments within my camera to make the original image brighter and warmer, but still, it wouldn’t end up like image number two. Also, for this image, I removed a ton of whispy hairs that had floated across her face from the wind and were distracting in the image.
A nice camera will get you picture A.
A photographer, an artist…. will get you picture B.
When you hire a photographer, we come, we photograph but then we finish our works of art at home. I know some photographers who outsource their editing, but I enjoy going through each image and putting my final touches on it. Sometimes it’s daunting but when I upload all of the final images into a gallery that beautifully display’s them, I sit back and I smile.
So that’s what I’m doing when I hold your images hostage for the few weeks after you session. I’m going through each one, analyzing, tweaking, creating a finished product for you to enjoy for years to come.
People ask me all the time, What do you use to edit?
– I DO 99% OF MY EDITING IN LIGHTROOM.
Occasionally I will bring an image into Photoshop if I have to drastically remove something.
For example, I removed most of the stray hairs off of her face in lightroom BUT I needed photoshop to remove the hair that had draped across her braces, lips and teeth.
Isn’t she beautiful by the way????
